Learn. Fish. Connect.

Whether you're picking up a fly rod for the first time, refining your casting, learning to tie flies, or exploring new water, Arkansas Fly Fishers offers opportunities to develop your skills and connect with fellow anglers.

CASTING & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Become a Better Caster

Whether you're new to fly casting or looking to refine your technique, AFF offers opportunities to improve through hands-on instruction, practice, and personalized feedback from experienced casters.

Casting Tune-Ups

Informal, hands-on casting sessions where anglers of all skill levels can practice, ask questions, and receive helpful feedback. Whether you're learning the basics or working through a particular casting challenge, everyone is welcome.

Casting Skills Development

For anglers ready to move beyond the fundamentals, AFF offers structured skill development based on the Fly Fishers International Casting Skills Development Program. Participants work through progressively challenging casting techniques at their own pace, building confidence, accuracy, and control.

Specialized Clinics

Throughout the year, AFF offers focused clinics covering specific casting techniques and challenges. These sessions provide opportunities to learn new skills, sharpen existing ones, and benefit from instruction tailored to particular aspects of fly casting.

FLY TYING

Learn the Art of Fly Tying

Fly tying combines creativity, craftsmanship, and a deeper understanding of the flies we fish. Whether you're tying your first fly or refining techniques you've practiced for years, AFF offers opportunities to learn, share ideas, and enjoy time at the vise with fellow anglers.

Sipping & Tying

Our monthly Sipping & Tying gatherings bring fly tyers together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Watch a featured tyer demonstrate patterns and techniques, ask questions, and enjoy the company of fellow fly fishers. Beginners and visitors are always welcome. This meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Flyway Brewing – Breckenridge Village, 10301 N Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock. Check our calendar for upcoming gatherings and any schedule changes.

Fly of the Month

Each month, AFF highlights a fly pattern, giving members an opportunity to discover new flies, explore tying techniques, and expand their knowledge of patterns for different fishing situations. The featured pattern is typically taught at our monthly Sipping & Tying gathering, giving members an opportunity to learn the pattern and practice their fly-tying skills with provided materials.

Fly Tying Clinics

AFF offers hands-on clinics designed to help tyers develop their skills, from basic techniques to more advanced patterns. Experienced members and guest instructors share their knowledge, with opportunities for beginners to get started even if they don't yet have their own equipment.

FISHING OUTINGS

Explore New Waters Together

Some of the best fly-fishing experiences are the ones we share. AFF organizes outings that bring members together to discover new waters, exchange knowledge, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes fly fishing more than just catching fish.

Arkansas Fishing Outings

From familiar trout streams to warmwater fisheries, AFF outings give members opportunities to explore Arkansas waters together. These trips offer a chance to discover new fishing locations, learn from fellow anglers, and enjoy a day or weekend on the water.

Destination Fishing Trips

AFF also organizes trips to fishing destinations across the country and occasionally internationally. These adventures introduce members to different fisheries, techniques, and experiences while creating lasting memories and friendships.

Shared Experiences

Whether you're an experienced angler or relatively new to fly fishing, outings provide opportunities to learn from others, exchange tips, and connect with members who share your interests. Trips vary in size and format, with advance registration and deposits required for some outings.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Where Fly Fishers Come Together

Our monthly meetings bring together fly fishers of all experience levels for an evening of learning, conversation, and fellowship. Whether you're a longtime member or simply curious about fly fishing, you'll find a welcoming community at AFF.

Meetings also provide opportunities to hear about upcoming outings, club activities, and ways to get involved.

AFF meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Whole Hog Café, 2516 Cantrell Road in Little Rock. Members and guests are welcome. Check our calendar for meeting details, upcoming speakers, and any schedule changes.
